In many circles I’m known as the non-predictive palmist. Also the pragmatic palmist. Likely because of my strong grounding in all things tangible - the earth, the plants, the damn mosquitoes.
In fact, it was a tangible, marketing coach in the early aughts that recommended a hand reading in the first place. Even though I couldn’t figure out what trickery was at work in that reading - I was impressed by the readers’ ability to pin point deep seated struggles, fears and doubts that I’d carried for a lifetime. Almost more impressive was her ability to highlight areas of great pride and strength - sometimes to the detriment of learning new things. (I stuck to what I knew to a fault).
In order to learn the “secrets” for this incredible feat, I invested years and dollars to learn hand analysis. I’m glad I did.
Years later, my friend who is an intuitive and a channeler as well as a gifted massage therapist and healer, answer my question “Why in the world did I learn hand analysis? I’m an entrepreneur and a business junkie?” with
“What did you expect, Spirit was doing everything to get your attention and needed you to tune in - so a replicable tool like this was the key!”
(Obviously, I’m paraphrasing.)
That started my spiritual journey in earnest.
In earnest, because I was on a spiritual journey from birth. We all are. We just don’t put it in those terms.
Enough of the back-story.
What I’m trying to say is that I’m VERY GROUNDED. (can you see me shaking my fists and insisting that I’m NOT AT ALL WOO WOO?!)
Ha.
Well. Call it what you will but I’m probably a little “out there” for some of you. I’m also probably not tuned in enough for others of you. Welcome to human form.
This is the preamble. I promise I’m going somewhere with this.
Even though I’m not predictive, I have some things I need to share about what I feel coming in the world of careers in the next years. The good news is you don’t have to do a dang thing - the sun will still rise and the earth will continue to rotate if you think I’m full of baloney. (It’s cookies, I’m full of cookies).
Here’s the message for you today. It feels important to share even though it feels out of character for me.
The way we make money and use money is about to get shaken up. Until we learn how connected we truly are - there will be many power plays and shifts and money moving fast between organizations trying to hide it and double it and more.
That means your job is just one part of you and who you are in the world. You’re meant to share your gifts and skills, in a practical way and receive value in exchange. Those who are skilled at growing gardens will do that and those who are able to invent materials to clean with more compassion for the planet will do that. That doesn’t change. On the outside it looks the same, mostly.
Except the control loosens.
Meaning the controlling nature of corporations begins to loosen and hte people who are holding tight, white-knuckling it at the top of the corporations, like angry squirrels desperately trying to gather more nuts than everyone else will be surprised to find that the nuts they hid - even from themselves are growing of their own accord to help everyone. That is a hard nut to swallow.
In this time it is more important to to within yourself, and recognize the gifts you have and the skills you’ve developed so that you can help others. When you continue to do your best work, you can focus on your true wealth and value and trust that the fallout of the cultural revolution will be in everyone’s favor.
We had to learn what would happen if we all worried about ourselves alone sot hat we could learn how lonely we felt and how much we needed others - truly. No one human can know and do everything. You cannot build a vehicle, clean the house, grow the food and tend to the Earth while tending to your bodies and continuing to learn new things.
How silly to think that one could!
In the meantime the shifting is both gradual and instant. This doesn’t mean to keep your head in the sand. This means that you are meant to clarify your emotions and feelings and knowing so that you can show up and do the work you’re meant to do in the world.
Given the shifts that are on the way, being attached to “one way” of “doing business” presents challenges. Instead, notice how rapidly people are being “let go” and tend to yourself in that mindset.
When you’re “let go” you are given freedom from constraints that you didn’t need or want to do your best work. It’s an opportunity to lean into your own knowing about your own gifts and to move in that direction.
A talented tradesman is always needed and compensated, and no matter what you do, if you do it with your whole being and knowing, you are a talented tradesperson.
If you hate what you do and only did it because it would make you money - start today evaluating what else you’d do if you “could” because you can. Become the student and the teacher of the skills you have and continue to expand them and your ability to discuss them - you’ll be more agile in the coming waves of change in industry.
Okay, so I know this is not your typical ZenCareer missive. I can’t say if there will be more.
TLDR
Business as we know it is changing.
Recognize your core gifts, talents and learned skills and focus on having them be of service- to you and to the community as a whole.
Every person is necessary as the old structures shift, change and in some cases fall. Agility is your friend. You’re not too old to change.

I love this post for so many reasons but truthfully- I’m living what you are saying. I’ve been in the corporate world- had the COO title and the 6-figure salary and while I learned a lot and had a good experience, I found myself in the corner office after 9 years going- I’m not fulfilled even if I’m good at this- now what?! Now, I’m living with less materially than I’ve ever had, building a business that absolutely fuels me and I know will pay off- but what I learned- is that we all have the ability to feel this happy and fulfilled- even in a job- even in working for others. Hand analysis was so helpful for me because it really helped me understand- what is the kind of container (aka job) that’s going to help me feel expansive and use my gifts- not keep me feeling caged and like all my gifts are locked up! You were instrumental in helping me open my eyes to my own blueprint- and you’re right- you’re about as real and grounded as they come!
