It's Christmas time and the job-hunting is...easy?
Why this community and why now?
Short answer? People are losing jobs at what seems alarming rate and they’re all heading to the same place to vent about it - LinkedIn (or so it seems).
No one wants to deal with family drama at the holiday table especially if it includes everyone telling you THEIR ideas about how to get a new job, fast.
I’m here to help you through the job-hunt journey. In 2022 I managed to hunt myself two jobs (one because it was time to move on, I’d been overlooked for a promotion and I knew I could do more good at a bigger organization; the second job search was a bit more unexpected when my contracted RPO ended 8 months earlier than expected!)
In addition to the above, I’m a professional recruiter. Throughout my career I’ve recruited contractors for government assignments, executives for leadership roles at private companies, worked for recruiting agencies and publicly-traded medical device manufacturers and pretty much everything in between.
Honestly, I love recruiting.
And I hate the rumors and fake news that circulate during to in 202ugh times about what recruiters can and can’t do for a job hunter.
I’m also a certified professional career coach. I went ahead and got that certification because I wanted to be able to be one of the “good ones” - someone who actually knows how hiring works from the inside out and can offer good, useful insight into the process.
The thing is, I’m not great at having to charge people for coaching - I’d rather let you know what I know so that you can make it work for you in your job hunt. Thus, ZenCareer Nation.
I’ve got big dreams for this endeavor - and intend to always provide useful content at a free level. I’ll also eventually have a paid portion - which is going to include things like special “playlists” of job hunting strategies and insights for particular types of positions. And maybe we’ll also hold some live Q&As and interviews with hiring managers and thought leaders in the career space.
