The winged messenger
For a little finger, there's a lot to say
In non-predictive palmistry your Mercury finger is the finger I look to when you’re struggling to get your point across.
Mercury is your pinky finger.
It doesn’t seem as useful as the thumb on a daily basis, yet, without it how would you reach for the high note on the piano? or hit the question mark key on your keyboard?
In the Roman pantheon, Mercury is the god of commerce, communication, languages, luck, trickery and boundaries.
In pragmatic palmistry, Mercury is the first place I look when you have a message to get out - whether in your intimate relationship, on a global stage or simply at your local networking meeting.
The first rule of palmistry - is know your type and be the best version of your type.
In other words, there is no “good” or “bad” finger, line, or marking on your palms. It’s a case of understanding how it acts to help you move in the world so you can accomplish your dreams and visions.
Mercury for all it’s bravado and sly antics is a sensitive one.
Mercury craves closeness and is also quick to undermine that craving. Those with a dominant mercury finger, mount or zone, tend to find themselves, either professionally or anecdotally, in the role of healer.
This can mean therapist, doctor, OT or simply the parent at the table where all the kids come to share their woes.
What a wonderful gift!
Except when you don’t give yourself the space or energy to speak your truth to those that are most important to you.
At work (whether in your own business or someone else’s) you find yourself putting out fires, listening to your colleagues concerns and complaints and still wondering if you’re on the right path.
In your own business it could seem like no one understands what you do, or they’re not booking sessions - making you feel like you’ve picked the wrong line of work (or worse).
In someone else’s businesses it could show up as the sense of “Groundhog Day” doing the same thing over and over and not seeing any results.
The fix?
Get ultra honest with yourself.
My belief is that learning to trust ourselves - so we can face our biggest dreams and our biggest demons - is the key to a happy life.
We cannot help anyone if we aren’t able to help ourselves. It’s really okay to put your oxygen mask on first.
You don’t need to earn the right to trust and intimacy - you were born with it.
If you’re struggling with being heard :
Listen. Give yourself 15 minutes 2x a day to sit and listen to your own thoughts. Even if they’re repetitive. Write it all down if you want - it’s just for you to learn to understand your true voice.
Listen to what others are saying and take them at their word. Each of us has a responsibility to say what we mean. You do not have the responsibility to pull apart someone else’s request to see what they “really” meant. They are responsible for their words.
Speak your truth at all times. Note this is YOUR truth. Before you speak, ask yourself if it’s true.
Mercury wants closeness, it just doesn’t always know how to create the safe space for closeness to occur.
Lean into a safe space to trust your own voice as you work with your Mercury finger this week.
